DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct patient case management (i.e., consultation, prescribing and dispensing of medication), where appropriate and in line with stipulated country regulations.
  • Provide nursing care to both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the medical team.
  • Conduct antenatal assessments, monitoring foetal well-being and manage complications as they arise in line with midwifery best practice.
  • Manage the intrapartum period, including conducting deliveries, managing pain and providing emotional support to parents.
  • Conduct post-natal assessments, monitor new-born babies for signs of distress, and provide support and education to new parents.
  • Conduct nursing procedures such as phlebotomy, IV cannula insertion, catheterization, wound dressing, oral and parenteral drug administration.
  • Initiate emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.
  • Triage, emergency and critical care for patients accessing care at the facility.
  • Promoting and adhering to Illovo's procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to HSE, Competitive Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi (NMCM).
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency/literacy.
  • Clinical skills and knowledge of best practice in nursing and midwifery care.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays.
